In a recent celebration at The Elms Care Home, the community came together to support a special wedding on December 13, 2023. David and Malcolm, who had dreamed of a beach wedding near their home in Maplethorpe, found an alternative at The Elms. Despite David’s health challenges, the staff rallied to create a memorable day for the couple.

David and Malcolm’s love story began 25 years ago on New Year’s Eve in 1998. After meeting, it took only a week and a half for them to decide to move in together, and they’ve been inseparable ever since. Having moved to Maplethorpe from Wellingborough, the couple chose The Elms Care Home to be the venue for their wedding, where they received overwhelming support from both the home’s own community and care team.

The wedding, held on December 13, 2023, was a heartfelt and emotional occasion, with The Elms’ café transformed into a beautiful setting for the ceremony. The staff’s dedication and coordination, including the decoration of the venue with banners and a special balloon arch, ensured the celebration went off without a hitch.

While a reception is on hold for now, David and Malcolm plan to celebrate this joyous occasion when David is feeling better. This wedding at The Elms Care Home serves as a testament to the power of love, inclusivity, and the exceptional care provided by Highgate Care and its dedicated team.
