The Grange Care Home in Darlington is celebrating after Home Manager, Carmen Miclea, was named Dementia Specialist of the Year at the prestigious Stars of Social Care Awards.
The national accolade recognises outstanding individuals who are making a significant difference in the lives of people receiving care and support across the UK.
Taking place at the Leonardo Royal St Paul’s Hotel in London, the awards saw Carmen honoured for her innovative and deeply personal approach to dementia care. By taking the time to understand each resident’s life story, interests and aspirations, she creates meaningful opportunities that help people maintain their identity, independence and sense of purpose.
Her commitment to embedding new dementia care techniques and developing her team has helped enhance residents’ wellbeing while fostering a culture of compassionate, person-centred support throughout The Grange Care Home.
